Story of Yoga

The earliest yoga practice is unknown. Remnants of the ancient practice can be found in India. Modern yoga works to unify the mind, body and spirit. It’s roots were found around 200 B.C.E. in a yogasutra by Patanjali. Several branches have formed as off shoots of the original techniques though the basic philosophies are basically the same. Asanas or postures can be modified to adjust to students physical needs. Western yoga allows for a connection to spirit no matter what religion you practice. Click Here to view Slide Show

Benefits of Yoga

As you begin, you will learn yoga postures or asanas. Asanas will help you gain flexibility, strength, and endurance. As you become more advanced, you will experiencea cardiovascular work out moving in and out of asanas or even while holding a single pose. You will learn to engage muscle groups to enhance your postures. You will learn to keep a quiet mind and incorporate breath work into your practice. You will learn to experience personal joy and good mental health and relate to your own spirituality on a deeper level and learn to incorporate this into the total yoga experience.

Yoga Sessions

Private yoga sessions and yoga parties will be done at your house for your convenience. You will only need yourself, water, a towel or sticky mat, and a blanket if you wish. I do not require that you purchase a sticky mat. Classes begin with getting centered, continue with asanas and breath work and end with meditation
